Two things to remember…

Posted September 16th, 2009

Camp is over for 2009. What a wonderful experience it was for me to work with such talented young artists. I hope you all continue to work hard at your art. For those who wish to continue studying with me, private and semi-private lessons are available in a limiter number.

Two things to remember…

First, the Wilmington Art Camp with have an art show at the Caffe Phoenix on Front Street the first weekend of October (Riverfest Weekend). Our art opening will be Thursday, October 1 from 5-7 pm. The art will hang from Thursday through Sunday, October 4. Every camper knows what piece of art they are to bring for the show. You will receive further details via email giving you the times to drop off the art at my studio. We will also create a beautiful email invitation that you can send to friends and family.

The second thing to remember is this…For my young artist friends–We are now a community. My door is open to you so come for a visit, bring your work by for me to look at (or email me a pic), and stay in touch. I miss you, everyone!

Deborah Cavenaugh Summer Art Camp is Now Accepting Students.

I'm living my own dream

National Artist, Deborah Cavenaugh, Is Offering Nine One-Week Art Camps June 15 through August 14, 2009

“I want these art camps to not only have the basic goal that each child  creates  beautiful art, something they can  be proud of, but further, to develop their self-confidence and help them find their own, true artistic voice that I believe is inside of every person just waiting to be discovered.”     Deborah Cavenaugh

Great Art.  Pride of Accomplishment.  Self-Confidence.  Self-Discovery. Deborah Cavenaugh Summer Art Camp

We’ll bring all of our imperfections to the table and find the great joy of being our individual,  authentic selves.

artist Deborah Cavenaugh

Give your child the opportunity to study with Deborah Cavenaugh in her personal studio.  There are six different themes spread over the nine week-long camps–from painting to sculpting. The camps are structured so that those who are already comfortable with art,  as well as those who are a bit intimidated, will both have a positive, successful experience.

Deborah will work with each young artist from where they are now with the aim to help them gain confidence and find their own personal and true artistic voice.

Campers will use professional supplies in a professional artist’s studio. The students’ work will appear in our online gallery on this site, as well as be featured in a Deborah Cavenaugh School Art Show in the fall. Camp size is limited to no more than six students per camp so that each young artist receives the attention they deserve. Students aged 10 and up with any level of artistic ability are eligible.  Students under age 10 are accepted on a case-by-case review.  Contact Deborah at 910-297-5383 to discuss any exceptions. All supplies are provided.

Deborah Cavenaugh has a BS in Education from the University of Virginia and is  a full-time working artist in Wilmington, NC.  A well known artist in many fields (greeting cards, prints, originals, jewelry, commissions, illustration, etc.), her work hangs across the country in every state and well as internationally.  Known for her upbeat positive message, she paints her belief that “while you can easily list what is going wrong any day in your life, you can never get to the end of the list of everything that is going right even on the worst day of your life.”  Widely praised in the press and called “joyful,” “inspirational,” and “a role model,” Deborah considers herself to be an artist for the people painting about the “ordinary, beautiful  life we all have the opportunity to experience–if we are willing to see it is possible.”
